A would-be robber is still on the run after a botched break-in in the Greater East End on Aug. 26 left one alleged intruder dead, according to police.

Two men forced their way into a home in the 6900 block of Avenue T just after 2 a.m., prompting one of the residents to open fire.

The gunshots killed one of the intruders – though he has not been publicly identified – and forced the other to flee on foot.

Officers responding to the call around 3 a.m. questioned the resident and witnesses at the home.

The shooting will be referred to a Harris County grand jury, police said Tuesday.
