A massive brawl that featured customers heaving chairs at one another inside a Houston-area restaurant went viral after video of the clash was posted on social media.

The brawl broke out at Bayou City Wings on the Gulf Freeway feeder road at Fuqua on Tuesday night.

According to KTRK, the melee began about 10:45 p.m. in the bar area of the restaurant.

As seen on surveillance video, a man in a light blue shirt who was sitting at the bar by himself was approached from behind by someone. After a verbal exchange, some shoving began and in short order, chairs started flying.

Participants in the clash included men and women, with one man shown without his shirt on. Customers seated at tables watched nervously as chairs sailed overhead.

Restaurant management expressed regret about the incident.

“We’ve done a lot of promoting to get families into our restaurants,” Bayou City Wings CEO Charles Bryan told KTRK. “It’s now our responsibility to ensure this type of incident doesn’t occur again.”

Max Thweatt, the company’s director of operations, told KPRC it was the first time he had ever seen such a brawl.

“This is the first major incident that we’ve had in a very, very long time here at this establishment and any of our Bayou City Wings,” Thweatt said. He added that the group throwing chairs left without paying part of its tab, before police arrived.

By Friday morning, no charges had been filed. The restaurant was still investigating the incident, according to reports.
