Tornado warning and flood advisory issued for Harris County

A tornado warning has been issued for Harris County until 4:30 p.m., along with Waller, Grimes, Liberty, San Jacinto and Polk Counties, according to the National Weather Service

A flood advisory also has been issued for central Harris County until 5 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. 

Flood advisories are also in place for parts of Galveston County, Fort Bend County and Brazoria County, the weather service reported. 


Some areas expected to see flooding are Hunters Creek Village, Pearland, Sugar Land, Missouri City, West University Place, South Houston, Jersey Village and other areas. 

There have also reports of several high water locations across town including on I-45 North Freeway and on the 610 East Loop.

A 50 percent chance of thunderstorms is predicted both Saturday and Sunday. The temperatures will peak in the lower 90s both days and fall to the mid-70s overnight. 

The heat index for Saturday is expected to reach 102 degrees.
