An accomplished Texas neurosurgeon’s resume may be impressive, but a closer look at her history reveals a series of troubling run-ins with the law.

Dr. Melissa Macias of Corpus Christi was recently featured by KRISTV, revealing the health professional’s three prior DWI convictions.

Macias, who is currently employed by the South Texas Brain & Spine Center, was arrested for drunk driving in Wisconsin in March of last year and again in 2014 and 1991.

“Call the office at 8 a.m. and tell them that I’ve had…I don’t know f***ing what to say,” Macias said during the call.

Footage also shows Macias interacting with a police officer the moment she was pulled over.

“Guys look, I am a neurosurgeon here,” Macias said to the lawman while wearing scrubs, struggling to successfully pass a sobriety test.

Earlier that night, police said Macias visited a hair salon, acted belligerently and knocked over a display.

Macias is one of four surgeons employed with the South Texas Brain & Spine Center. One patient told KRISTV she’s worried by Macias because she has “people’s lives in her hands.”
