Houston is infamous for its traffic. Any person spending time in the city can attest to the soul-crushing delays on motorways, especially during rush hour.
Now, Houstonians have the numbers to back up their pain.
In 2016, Harris County was home to 44 of the state’s 100 most congested roadway and half of the top 10 are in the Houston area, according to TxDOT. That’s up from four of the top 10 in 2015.
Unsurprisingly, the most congested roadway in Texas is the stretch of Loop 610 between Interstate 10 and Highway 59; the road that feeds traffic in and out of the Galleria area.
Actually putting a number to the amount of time spent sitting in traffic is even more frustrating. Sitting in traffic on the 44 most congested roads cost Houstonians 13,567,883 hours of delays last year.
