The Comey Watch Party started early at Houston’s Axelrad Beer Garden.

The popular site in Midtown Houston at 1517 Alabama opened its doors at 8:45 a.m. with $1 off left-leaning politics-themed drinks such as “Impeachmint,” “Bad Hombre” and a “Frozen Covfefe,” which pokes fun at President Donald Trump‘s recent mistaken tweet.

Over 1,200 people said they were interested in the bar’s Facebook event, with about 225 replying that they would attend. The bar promised breakfast tacos and fresh coffee along with its normal alcoholic beverages.

In the event description, the bar quoted CNN: “Washington politics has often been described as sports for people who weren’t all that good at sports. If that’s true, then Thursday’s congressional testimony by fired FBI director James Comey is this town’s Super Bowl.”

Heights-area bar D&T Drive Inn at 1307 Enid was also planning an early morning viewing, opening at 8 a.m. with bingo-style cards for a drinking game.
