Houston police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a male suspect in a parking lot shooting that left two men dead 18 months ago.

Surveillance video showed two men punching each other outside El Reventon Sports Bar and Night Club, 7398 Irvington, at about 2:55 a.m. Oct. 10, 2015.

The unidentified shooter was present at the beginning of the altercation but disappeared from the video frame, presumably to get a gun, police said.

He returned at the end of the fight and fired multiple shots at Steven Skero, 33, who fled a short distance before collapsing.

The shooter then handed the gun to Hugo De La Cruz, 31, who ran out of camera range. A security guard later told police he saw De La Cruz firing the gun and ordered him to drop the weapon.

Instead, De La Cruz pointed the gun at the guard, who fired once at De La Cruz, fearing for his safety and that of others, according to a Houston Police Department news release. Police recovered the gun used by De La Cruz and the unidentified suspect.

Paramedics pronounced Skero and De La Cruz dead at the scene.

The suspect is described only as a man wearing a white T-shirt and dark pants. Separate surveillance video showed him apparently waiting for De La Cruz to return but after a few minutes he fled in a black 4-door full-size pickup truck with a silver tool box in the bed, police said.

Anyone with information on the identity of the shooter is asked to contact the Houston Police Department Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Houston Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477).
