Police in College Station identified Tyler Thomas, 22, as the motorcycle rider who was killed early Tuesday after colliding with a pickup.

Thomas, of Bryan, was killed about 3 a.m. in the 2500 block of Texas Avenue in College Station.

According to police, a truck coming out of a motel pulled in front of Thomas. Thomas was thrown several feet when he struck the bed of the pickup, police said.

He was wearing a helmet but died of his injuries.

The driver of the pickup, identified as Andrew Guedea, 36, was found to be impaired at the time, police said. He has been charged with driving while intoxicated and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, College Station police said.

Guedea, a College Station resident, remains in the Brazos County Jail with a combined bond set at $14,000, according to court records.
