Police find $1.67 million worth of marijuana in north Texas

Police in North Texas seized more than 275 pounds of marijuana on Tuesday, after a Texas Highway Patrol Trooper stopped a vehicle in Oldham County near Amarillo.

Around 10:40 p.m., a trooper stopped a 2009 Cadillac SUV traveling east on I-40 near Vega for a traffic violation. A canine unit was called to the scene and smelled something in the vehicle.

ARRESTED: Police say street-level drug dealer had mushrooms, ecstasy 


The trooper discovered multiple large vacuum-sealed packages of marijuana inside the vehicle. 

The driver, Adan Ontiveros, 39, of Tuscan, Arizona, was arrested and charged with felony possession of marijuana. Ontiveros was transported and booked into the Oldham County jail.

Police believe the drugs were being transported from Arizona to an unknown location.
