Firefighters are battling a blaze Thursday that has lasted more than an hour and a half at a north Harris County barbecue joint.
Flames broke out at Charlie’s BBQ on Airline Drive around 5:30 a.m.
As of 7:15 a.m., there were no injuries reported at the restaurant, which has served family-style, fresh food since 1979.

Firefighters had not determined the cause of the blaze as of 7:15 a.m., as the restaurant nearly burned to the ground, local television stations reported.
The billowing smoke from the fire was visible from several miles away Thursday morning on the North Freeway, according to television reports.

Airline Drive was closed between Carby and Margie, according to television reports. Houston Metro bus 56 was detoured in both directions Friday morning due to the fire, according to an alert from the agency.
Firefighters with the Little York Fire Department headed to the restaurant around 5:30 a.m.
