The Texas Department of Public Safety is offering a $3,000 reward to anyone with information leading to the arrest of 59-year-old Jose Mario Lopez.

Lopez is currently the most-wanted sex offender in the city. In 1983 he was arrested for a San Patricio County burglary with intent to commit a sex offense involving a 15-year-old girl.

He was sentenced to 70 years in prison. He was released on parole in 2015 and ordered to register as a sex offender for life, but he failed to do so.

Lopez violated his parole and cut off his ankle monitor in January. He escaped from a Houston facility where he had been placed in November.

Lopez has a tattoo of a cross on his left hand, “madre” and “padre” written on his back and other tattoos on his arms. He is 5-feet, 7-inches tall, weighs roughly 180 pounds and is also known as “Mario” Lopez.

According to DPS, he should be considered armed and dangerous.
