Mark Hanson, executive director and CEO of the Houston Symphony, has been named the new executive director of the San Francisco Symphony, according to a press release. Hanson will take over the role Sept. 1, succeeding Brent Assink, who held the role for 18 years. The Catherine French Group, an executive search focused on the arts, will lead the Houston Symphony’s nationwide search for Hanson’s replacement, according to CultureMap.
