A Houston school security officer accused of taking bathroom photos of boys at a middle school last month is expected back in court Monday after charges against him were upgraded.

Yandry Jimenez Rivero, a 20-year-old Cuban national who was working for a private security firm, remains in the Harris County jail without bail, accused of drug possession and promoting child pornography.

Rivero was arrested last month after allegedly holding his cell phone over the bathroom stall to record an 11-year-old boy using the restroom. The boy saw the phone and told authorities.

Further investigation turned up at least three other videos with different boys, all around 12, and all from Rivero’s school, Energized for Excellence Academy, near Bellaire in west Houston.

Rivero’s charge of improper photography in a bathroom, a state jail felony, has been upgraded to four second-degree felony counts of promotion of child pornography. If convicted, he faces up to 20 years in prison for each count.

He is also charged with felony possession of methamphetamine. Court records are unclear about where police found the drugs.

He is expected to appear before state District Judge Ramona Franklin. No attorney is listed in court records for Rivero.
