Houston radio host Matt Patrick dies days after announcing he terminated cancer treatments

Houston radio host Matt Patrick, 58, died on Sunday, July 9, days after announcing he would stop cancer treatments, according to Fort Bend County Sheriff Troy Nehls.

On Wednesday, July 5, Patrick announced he would no longer seek treatment for the aggressive esophageal cancer he has been fighting since late 2015.

Along with stating Patrick’s history within the radio world, Sheriff Nehls announced his death Sunday in a press release saying, “Michael‘s true passion in life was not behind a microphone, but rather being quietly at home with his family was most important.”

He is survived by his wife and “best friend of 15 years” Paula and their children, Jake, Alexandra Ryan and Alanna Ryan.
