The mother and older brother of a slain Houston 14-year-old are expected to appear in court Friday in connection with an unrelated robbery.

Ellen Breaux, 33, and her 17-year-old son, Messiah Breaux, were arrested Wednesday on charges of aggravated robbery with a deadly.

CONFESSION: Brother reportedly drops bombshell in case

The robbery occurred June 23, several weeks before the fatal shooting Monday of O’Cyrus Breaux, an Aldine ISD middle school student who was killed by a bullet as he and his friends socialized outside his house during his 14th birthday party.

The younger teen was sitting in the driveway of the family’s Greenspoint-area home around 2 a.m. when a single shot ripped into his stomach, police said.

Prosecutors are expected to outline the robbery case against the mother and son during court appearances Friday before state District Judge Michael McSpadden.

They are accused of robbing a man at gunpoint outside of his Cypress Station-area apartment complex and taking his money and pick-up truck, according to court records.

During a magistrate hearing early Thursday, prosecutors said both Breauxs confessed to being involved in the June 23 robbery.

After hearing the allegations and reviewing the bail, McSpadden, the judge, will likely appoint lawyers for both Breaux’s.

Ellen and Messiah Breaux remain in the Harris County Jail on $50,000 bail.
