Here in Texas if we’re not complaining about the weather, debating state politics or damning our local sports teams, we’re arguing about our most beloved foods.
And there are some Texas food debates that will never, ever die.
WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!: Alleged food sins that some of us commit daily
Tastes change and preferences evolve over time. Add in a constant influx of transplants and newcomers and our cuisine gets ever more muddled. However, Texans will always find time to get into verbal fisticuffs over beans in chili (negative), ketchup on tamales (sometimes) and sweet tea (keeping dentists busy daily).
When the question of the most debated Texas food topic was asked recently on Facebook, Chron.com discovered that tempers still flare over the use of the word “kolache,” where breakfast tacos were born, and whether or not menudo or pho is a better hangover cure.
By the way, the mayors of both San Antonio and Austin signed a truce between the two cities over who birthed scrambled eggs inside a tortilla. Things were bad last year when even The Atlantic had to cover such a heated issue.

Shots were also fired in the ever-present Whataburger vs. In-N-Out Civil War. Can Texans all agree that In-N-Out fries are only good covered in cheese and other goop?
Hey, all this means is that Texans have a lot of be thankful for. Just think, in some states they have no such thing as Tex-Mex or barbecue to argue over. Things could always be worse. We could be arguing over pizza crust.
On a related note, Texans should not have an opinion when it comes to pineapple on pizza. Let the northern states decide.
