A GoFundMe page has been created for the Houston father that drowned Tuesday night while trying to save his son.

The page, created on behalf of his family, is seeking donations to pay for 27-year-old Rufino Suarez‘ funeral.

Earlier this week, Galveston County authorities said Suarez, his son and five others were kayaking when the small vessel capsized north of the San Luis Pass near Galveston Island.

Galveston police said Suarez was pulled under by a strong current while trying to save his son and later found dead on a nearby sandbar.

Suarez’ son was found unconscious but breathing, according to the Associated Press.

In a Facebook post by Suarez’ employer, Texas Roofing and Gutters, the Houston father was described as an amazing father and good husband.

Authorities said Suarez and his son were not wearing a life jacket during the time of the accident.
