Fire blazes for hours at Houston Solid Waste Depot

Houston firefighters spent hours trying to extinguish a fire Friday night in northwest Houston, according to authorities. 

The fire began around 10 p.m. at the City of Houston Solid Waste Management Depository building on Windfern and Sommermeyer, officials said. 

A large pile of trash somehow caught fire inside the building.  Firefighters were still on scene hours after the blaze started at 3:30 a.m. 

There were no reported injuries.
