A car came crashing into a home Monday night just steps from a mother and her 4-month-old son sitting on the couch in northeast Harris County.

The mother, Christina Mooney, said debris came flying toward her and her son, but no one was injured at the home in the 5600 block of Hollow Pines near the intersection of Wallisville and Normandy.

She had just put her three daughters to bed.

“I heard screeching,” Mooney recalled. “Next think I know, there’s a car in the house.”

Mooney heard that the male driver of that car was fleeing the scene of a previous crash where he tried to avoid giving insurance information. The driver was arrested and taken to jail.

The family is wondering where they will go now, since they were renting the home and the owner said he did not have insurance to cover repairs or a temporary hotel stay.
