After responding to a reported shooting and brawl in southeast Houston, police Tuesday night found a young girl apparently hit by a car.

Around 6 p.m., officers swarmed the scene at King‘s Row apartments near Scott and Barberry and were unable to locate any shooting.

Instead, a resident flagged down patrol units for an injured 13-year-old who had been hit by a car. Residents said she’d been hit while fleeing the melee.

She was taken to the hospital but the extent of her injuries were unclear.

Police said that around 5:41 p.m. a group of about 20 people were fighting near the 4100 block of Barberry Drive.

Authorities said shots were also fired from the location.
