A 1-year-old child was reportedly shot Wednesday afternoon in southwest Houston, according to police.
Just after 1:30 p.m., officers responded to a call for multiple shots fired in the 5300 block of North Braeswood.
A caller reporting six or seven shots said the gunman fled on foot. Afterward, authorities detained one person but said it was not immediately clear who fired the shots.
Less than five minutes later, another caller reported an infant shot about a block away in the 5400 block of Braesvalley. The child’s condition was not released, but first responders reported a fatality from the first call.
