A driver is facing intoxication manslaughter charges after rear-ending another car in north Houston early Saturday and killing a passenger, according to a Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputy.

The Ford Mustang traveling eastbound on Aldine Bender Road was stopped at a red light at Northgreen Boulevard around 2:30 a.m. when a maroon Ford pick-up truck rear-ended the car, according to Deputy C. O’Bryant with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

The Ford Mustang began spinning out of control and eventually caught fire. The driver of the Mustang made it out of the vehicle with no injuries, but the other passenger remained trapped inside and died on scene.

The driver of the pick-up truck was not injured and arrested for being intoxicated.

Officials did not identify either driver or the passenger who died on scene.
